Hope everyone is enjoying the last week of Summer Holidays! Try out this cool craft before school is back!
Hexagonal Origami Pen Holder
If you do not have squared paper, try this easy trick! Fold the paper from the point down towards the bottom to form a square and simply cut off the edge.
Voila! A square!
1. Fold the paper in half
2. reopen the paper to see the crease down the middle
3. take the right and left sides of the paper and fold each side to the middle crease
Both sides should be folded in like so
4. Reopen the paper again. You should be able to see 8 smaller rectangles
5. Take the top and bottom sides and fold toward the middle crease
Fold the top to the middle
And fold the bottom to the middle
6. Now reopen the paper again to find 16 small squares present
7. Take each corner tab of the entire paper and fold up towards the first point
All corners should be folded in like so, not exceeding the squares point
8. Once all corners are folded take the top and bottom sides and fold over towards the middle crease
9. When they are folded over, flip over the entire paper
You should only be able to see 8 squares on the back side
10. From the top, you will need to fold down to the middle crease, and from the bottom you will need to fold up to the middle crease
The top and bottom should meet in the middle showing 4 triangular pockets
11. Now, start by taking one corner and push it inside its opposite, and then take a second corner and push it inside its opposite
12. Once the corners are tucked inside, push on the edge to make sure its fitted
This is the final module! To Finish making the pen holder we will need 6 total!
13. After completing 6 modules , glue the pieces all together. I used a hot glue gun to really secure the pieces. Wet glue would be the next best alternative.
Glue the sides of each module so they are all attached.
Now it is free standing!
14. Next, simply trace the hexagon shape of the pen holder to create a base.
15. Cut this base out.
16. When the base is cut out, glue the edges of the base and stick it to the bottom of the pen holder.
17. Use a popsicle stick to add a top piece and simply glue the sides and place it in the middle.
