A DVD has been produced with funding from a SaskSmart Grant (2008-2009) by the The Partners in Action for Literacy, a committee of the Cornerstone Family and Youth.
This is a training video that provides useful information to help young people entering the workforce. The goal is to prepare them to better understand the interpersonal relationships they must develop between co-workers and management. The video also gives information on the rights of the worker under the Labour Standards Act in Saskatchewan.
Accompanying the DVD is a workbook for use in a classroom or workshop setting. The video has 15 segments each presenting a challenge that might be faced on the job.
The DVD, filmed and edited by Jessie Twietmeyer, used a script written by Diane Twietmeyer. The local Dairy Queen and Moose Mountain Woodworks allowed filming in their businesses after hours so that the film could present the situations in a realistic looking work setting. The actors are all local people from the Carlyle area.
