We are all getting excited as the weather is getting warmer & summer is just around the corner.

So let’s go to the beach! Let’s go to the beach! We will have a lot of fun out under the sun so let’s all go to the beach!

The moms provided a sweet treat:

Beach in a Bucket Dessert

Ingredients:
Vanilla pudding
Vanilla Wafers

grapes

Clear plastic drinking cups

Plastic Ziplock bag
Rolling Pin
Mini Umbrellas (or toothpicks and construction paper to make yourself)

Directions:1. Prepare vanilla pudding according to directions and divide among the cups filling halfway. Place in refrigerator to set.
2. While pudding is setting, place Vanilla Wafers in ziplock bag. Use rolling pin to crush into a “sand-like” consistency.
3. When pudding is set, remove from refrigerator and add a layer of “sand” on top of pudding.
4. Place an umbrella and a grape (or “beach ball”) in each cup to create a cute and delicious summer scene.
5. Enjoy!

Insects

Tissue paper and glue can always be a simple craft. One could make all sorts of creatures, we decided to make some beautiful butterlies.

As well as enjoying a few different books about the bugs in the garden!

We brought the ocean to our little playroom!

With an ocean scene painted on our window. We added a touch to the room making our own little octopuses.

A simple craft to do with your child! Paint a Styrofoam cup with a blue/purple paint. Let it dry. Glue pieces of streamer into the open end of the cup. Cut a little hole into the bottom of the cup so you can knot a string through. Glue googly eyes on, or color your won! Hang to decorate the room!

Our fun and creative moms made healthy snacks to go along with our theme! Goldfish crackers & “shark” celery. Or little crabs made from ritz crackers & cheese wiz or WOW butter (peanut butter replacement) and choi mein noodles for the little legs and raisins for the eyes.

CFY FUNDRAISING

We have been busy planning out fundraisers for the year. We started the year of fundraising with a garage sale. We recieved many donations made for items. There was a great turn out for such a gloomy day ! I am very Happy with the results of this sale!

April Fun Ideas

Instead of the typical Candy in the Eggs next year try filling a few with a more suitable non-teeth rotting substitute! Gold Fish most kids love goldfish! Be creative a random surprise chocolate will still make it exciting to them. They do not all need candy. In our house hold we have gotten lager eggs as well to put little trinket toys in or tiny cars kids love them just as much as the candy!

Baby Chick Easter Egg Craft

All you need is:

Egg shape cutout ( cut into cracked egg)

feather (for chicks top of head)

markers

stickers

yellow oval shape (for baby chick)

glue

Glue the egg and chick together like in the picture and have your little one decorate the eggs and create the face. Let them be creative! if they are not so good with faces help them or use goggle eyes you make that choice. Do what you wish to make it your very own. You can glue a magnet on the back for the fridge! so many choices and Ideas get creative!

It is also Spring so why not try planting with your little one! We did just that with the CFY kids and moms. Involving them as much as possible makes them feel accomplished and like a “BIG KID” And it gives them an extra thing each day to do to build responsibility. You can remind them to water it everyday and see how much it is growing!

Check out this site I found they are fairy gardens you can let your kids help assemble them I thing they are such a beautiful idea where you get to be creative and have a green thumb!!

IMPACT WEEK

We decided to stick with the same theme Impact was using on the same week . We introduced rainbow fish. If you take a trip to the library and are like me! I was very surprised with the amount of Rainbow Fish books there are today. There is one for every stage in your childs life. Pintrest is a wonderful tool to look for amazing and simple ideas for everything from snack to craft. If you struggle to find ideas for you and your child check it out! www.pintrest.com.

We did a simple Rainbow Fish craft. Use some colored circle shape cut outs and a google eye all glued onto a Fish shape. Maybe add some Jazz add some sparkle! mm

Here is a great example of a Pintrest found idea from one of the moms for snack. a yummy Rainbow fish-shaped jello cut-out with cut grapes for bubbles. And an added Banana allergy free cookies as well for the little ones we have that are allergic to Eggs. They were Yum and the kids loved them

We started Spring off with a super easy craft thats is even easy for your smallest artist. All you need is a paper plate cut in half and give them some stickers, paint, tissue paper, markers, crayons, really anything to let them do their very own thing. We added a handle space cut out of foam. Easy and Simple . It was just to nice this day and we could not pass up the chance to take the kids outside to blow bubbles, color the sidewalks with chalk and yes even a little box dancing for the toddlers. Yes I said box dancing. There was an old torn down dox the little ones decided was their very own stage to dance on.

Early Spring for March

We had an amazing month in March. Full of nice weather and hyper happy children. We had a busy month with all the activities we had planned with the kids of CFY. We celebrated Dr. Suess with a party! We did a hand painting with the moms and kids! Something super cute and keepsakebale. We played “Pin the Green Eggs on the Ham” and read the Dr. Suess Book ”The Cat In The Hat”.

We Quickly got into the St. Patty’s week Mood and went all out! Lots of wonderful Decorations were donated by the programs very own moms. It was all decked out with green shamrocks. We got the kids together for a chance to all help decorate an empty space on the wall that was in Need of color and what a better way then to involve the moms and Tots. We got all the kids to cut hand prints of every color in the rainbow! It was a team effort and turned out super cute.

The kids Enjoyed the rice bucket sooooo much I decided to give it another go with a Green theme for St. Pattys week. Filled it with Green toys the kids had laying around. Threw in some foam Shamrocks and confetti and some digging and pouring tools! I highly suggest to try them ! Kids love them. Summer is approaching so if you worry about the mess(and I will be honest its a huge one!) Do it outside on a patio or in the grass!

The Polar bear week added up to be during an actual chilly week, which we clearly are not experiencing right now as we speak wow was it warm today:) We added a new experience to our playroom which was a hit! It clearly was a mess afterwards. The kids had a great time with their Polar Bear themed rice bucket. We will soon being doing it again so much fun.

We had a very themed based snack provided by our very own moms, Polar Bears. Each one was made out of some healthy bits, minus the Oreo cookie nose There is so many great ideas on the web for themed snacks take a look. I always find myself finding great new ideas. My kids are most likely to eat a snack if it looks fun and represents something they can identify. We try to stick with healthy but sometimes a little sweet is what everyone needs .
